Heroes Movement

My Fifth Volunteer Project: Heroes Movement

This time around, I wasn’t looking for work. I had the privilege of having been contacted. One night, I checked my email, and I got one from Catch A Fire telling me Heroes Movement requested me. At first, I couldn’t believe it, I felt so honored, and I still do. I was and still am very thankful for this opportunity.

This project would be my first time working with Wix. I was hoping that they were working with WordPress, but if Wix is as easy as Squarespace, then I should be fine.

They requested a few things; the hardest was they wanted a map with all their locations around the United States of America. I was like; this is going to be a challenge. Sure enough, it was actually pretty easy! Wix already has a plugin for that type of situation. I created a new page, designed it to match the rest of the website. Added the plugin, designed the layout of the map, made sure the multiple locations were selected, added them all, added directions, website, and info, and made sure when people visit that particular page the map was zoomed out.

They also requested to darken up the red on their website; it was a bit bright. I also made a couple of changes to some of the pages. For example, one had a huge logo in the back with links written on it to click and get information. I made that logo into a Hero image and added those links to a separate section on the page. I wanted it to stick out better and look cleaner. I also updated their buttons on the main page, made them look nicer.
