Details on Creating Javis Photos Website While Using Old School Tools

I had a blast working on Javis Photos website! I did go with an old school route using HTML and CSS, because I wanted to save them money in the long run. Plus, it was fun remembering how to code as I did back in high school.

  • I used AWS S3 bucket to create a static website.
  • Cloudfront to secure the site and to distribute it
  • Route 53 to plugin their GoDaddy domain name to the S3 bucket.

I installed a fully functional Contact Us form using serverless AWS applications:

  • Lambda
  • API Gateway
  • SES

Even though I should’ve gone with an EC2 instance with WordPress, I wanted to see how things would work with an S3 bucket and how much savings I could get for them. You do have to work a bit more because you’re consistently uploading the photos to the S3 bucket and grabbing the link for the picture and including it in your HTML code, but I like doing that, and I’m already used to doing it.
