My Second Volunteer Project: Backing Up Brigid’s Path Website

Enter Brigid’s Path, but first I owe a lot to Catch A Fire because, without them, I wouldn’t know where else to volunteer. They keep it easy, simple, and safe for a person like me getting into the industry, and to create a portfolio. You get to reach out and talk to new people that are looking for your help; heck you even get to practice your interview skills so that when an actual paying job comes around, you’re not rusty like I was.

I just completed another volunteer project. I did some minor updates to their WordPress website. I updated all their plugins and created documentation on how to keep them updated.

I helped them back up their website to OneDrive, using the UpDraft plugin. I made sure it would automatically back itself up every two weeks and I also, created documentation on how to back up their website manually, in case that becomes necessary.

About Brigid’s Path:

Brigid’s Path was founded in 2014 to care for babies and mothers in crisis with grace, love and hope.

Our primary work is to care for infants born exposed to an addictive substance like prescription medication, opioids or other drugs. We employ the latest therapeutic techniques – both medicinal and nonpharmacological – to help our babies be as comfortable as possible while they experience withdrawal.

Our skilled medical staff and volunteers shower our babies with love and attention 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We respond immediately to a baby’s every need, providing comfort and support at a crucial time of their development.

We believe in the strength of families and that families can – and do – contribute to the successful treatment of our patients.

We work with community partners to provide resources for our moms to achieve the stability that will help them care for their children for both the near- and long-term. We encourage mothers to room with, care for, and bond with their babies as much as possible.

We are proud to be part of a Stand Together Catalyst community with other nonprofit organizations who have demonstrated success in helping people realize their potential. Through Stand Together, we learn from other organizations and share our story, connecting Brigid’s Path with a nationwide network of other organizations who are making a difference in our communities. We receive training from industry experts in organizational development, branding, measurement and growth, and strategic relationships to amplify our impact and strategically expand our reach.
